Iron Work Farm in Acton, Inc. ('IWF') is a historical, non-profit corporation chartered in Massachusetts since 1964. The Iron Work Farm name derives from the original name of a 1,000-acre plantation which was granted in 1654 to Major Simon Willard, a founder of Concord. The land grant was acquired by the Concord Iron Works Company about 1660 and became the location of the first village settlement in Acton between 1700 & 1710. The area was incorporated as a town in 1735.
The purpose of Iron Work Farm in Acton, Inc. is to study the documents and preserve the tangible landmarks connected with this village, which later was a prominent commercial center in the railroad era from 1845 to 1900.

Happy New Year from Iron Work Farm!
IWF enjoyed many successes in 2009, thanks in a very large part to the caring and support of our members and friends. The Fall/Winter Newsletter describes many of the IWF activities that took place in 2009, as well as some of the activities currently being planned for 2010.
With 2009 now 'history' and 2010 taking its place, one photo of the Acton Minutemen taken at the Annual Meeting offers fitting recognition of our past year's progress, as reported in the IWF president's letter.
