Past Events at Iron Work Farm...
The 2011 Open Tap Room Event and Paint-out / Art-out Show Opening followed the IWF Annual Meeting and continued into the evening. Downstairs in the tap room, there were refreshments and music performed by Larry Lee Oppel and Friends. The Paint Out/Art Out Show opened upstairs, with a number of craft-brewed beers and fruits of the vine available for consumption. Various snacks were available to fortify our guests throughout the evening.

A July 2010 Open House with a 'Quilting Bee' theme was held at Jones Tavern.
The Mothertown Quilters put on a wonderful event, and Vickie's family treasures of the Civil War
period were on display in the 1818 parlor. Visitors were able to interact
with the quilters, and there was a great response to the hand piecing, coaster
project ably taught by Andie Ordung. Kay Landreth was a hit with her
costume and demonstration of candlewick embroidery, as was her
lovely Victorian Crazy Quilt (see slide-show below.) Tying all of the great
visuals together was some wonderful Civil War music played by Edward Hetzler, owner of Hetzler's Music in Hudson, and his friend David Gray.

The Equinox Event -- with live music, food & spirits, dancing, and
a silent auction -- has been held for the past two years at Exchange Hall, recently restored and
just reopened, situated just across Main Street from Jones Tavern.
Proceeds from the March event help us to continue the restoration and preservation
of our two historic, South Acton properties.
For our Patriots Day Events -- both IWF properties, the Faulkner House and Jones Tavern, are open to the public with a variety of displays to appeal to visitors of all ages, and re-enactors from 'both sides' encamped on the grounds. Transportation from the parking lot at Town Hall to the Hosmer House, Faulkner House, and Jones Tavern is provided by trackless trollies.
The May 2010 Faulkner House and Jones Tavern Open House offered a talk on herbs of the 1735 period and featured creation of a small herb garden typical of that period. Visitors had a chance to observe quilt makers as they started work on a Civil War reproduction quilt similar to one that will be auctioned by IWF and Mothertown Quilters in April of 2011, in celebration of Patriots' Day.
